Published on 12 May 2002Germany
On 26th September, 2002 the Frankfurt Stock Exchange announced that Neuer Markt and SMAX, segments of the main market established in the late nineties for growth-oriented and smaller corporations, will close by the end of 2003. At the same time, a new model for the segmentation of its equity market was announced. The reorganisation will involve dividing the market into two new segments, Domestic Standard and Prime Standard. Neuer Markt will be included in Prime Standard, which will have more stringent transparency requirements.
