National Advertising Division (NAD)

A self-regulatory agency established by the advertising industry to help maintain truth and accuracy in national advertising. The agency is managed by BBB National Programs, Inc., the national self-regulatory unit of the former Council of Better Business Bureaus. Among other things, the NAD:
  • Independently monitors and reviews national advertisements directed toward consumers ages 12 and older in all media for truth and accuracy.
  • Investigates consumer complaints about misleading advertising claims.
  • Provides a forum for competitors to resolve disputes regarding advertising claims.
