The European Commission has published a code of online rights, collating rights that are to be accorded to citizens of the EU in the course of their use of electronic services and networks.
The European Commission has published a new code of EU online rights, which collates for ease of reference all the rights enjoyed by citizens of EU member states that arise under European and national law. The code covers rights arising in relation to accessing and using online services, rights and principles applicable to e-commerce, and rights relating to access to justice (including jurisdictional matters). The section on using online services covers areas such as the right not to be discriminated against and the right to protection of personal data. The section on e-commerce issues covers the right to receive certain information before concluding an agreement online, fair and unfair contract terms, delivery of goods and withdrawal from online contracts.
