This Law Firm Publication by Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. discusses the May 28, 2013 advisory opinion by the Tennessee Attorney General addressing Tennessee's new "guns-in-trunks" law. According to the advisory opinion, the new law, which goes into effect on July 1, 2013, decriminalizes the carrying and storage of firearms and firearm ammunition in certain circumstances. However, it does not impact an employer's ability to prohibit employees from possessing guns on the employer's property or otherwise impact the employment relationship between an employer and employee.
