This Note details the purpose of warehouses in the supply chain, common services that are part of warehousing, and common systems, such as a warehouse management system (WMS). Specialized warehousing services, such as bonded warehouses and foreign-trade zones (FTZs), cold chain, and food grade are discussed. This Note also provides an overview of the bailment relationship and legal framework applicable to warehousing.
