Glossary

Listed building.

A building of special architectural or historic interest. They can be graded I (highest quality), II* or II. Anyone can apply for a building to be listed. English Heritage are responsible for considering and advising on all applications for listing, and for making recommendations to the Secretary of State about whether to add buildings to the statutory list.
