Lisbon Treaty

Also known as the Treaty of Lisbon. The Treaty of Lisbon amending the Treaty on European Union and the Treaty establishing the European Community, signed at Lisbon, 13 December 2007. The Lisbon Treaty came into force on 1 December 2009 with some provisions taking effect at a later date. It amends, but does not replace, both the Treaty on European Union (formerly known as the Maastricht Treaty) and the Treaty establishing the European Community (formerly known as the EC Treaty or Treaty of Rome and now known as the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU)).
