The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has unofficially confirmed the timing of changes to the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (Construction Act 1996), to be introduced by Part 8 of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2010 (LDEDC Act 2009).
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has indicated that it is working with the Scottish and Welsh administrations to introduce the amendments to Part II of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996 (Construction Act 1996), required as a result of Part 8 of the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 (LDEDC Act 2009), in October 2011.
However, BIS has been unable to confirm when the results of its consultation on amendments to the Scheme for Construction Contracts (England and Wales) Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/649) or the final statutory instrument will be published.
In readiness, PLC Construction has begun preparing its materials on the changes: see Getting ready for the Construction Act 1996 changes.
