ENERGY STAR

A program jointly administered by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the US Department of Energy to promote energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction. The program awards certification for achieving energy efficiency guidelines to:
  • Major appliances.
  • Office equipment.
  • Lighting.
  • Electronics.
  • Many types of buildings, homes, offices and industrial buildings.
The EPA frequently revises the standards to receive certification.
