On 31 August 2011, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a civil lawsuit to block AT&T Inc.'s proposed US$39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile USA Inc. from Deutsche Telekom AG.  The DOJ alleges that the acquisition would substantially lesson competition for mobile wireless telecommunications services across the US.  A trial date has been set for 13 February 2012.
