The District of Columbia's minimum wage rises from $8.25 per hour to $9.50 per hour, the first increase in a three-tiered hike.
On July 1, 2014, the District of Columbia increased its minimum wage from $8.25 per hour to $9.50 per hour for all workers, the first of three increases of the Minimum Wage Amendment Act of 2013, which was signed into law by Mayor Gray on January 15, 2014.
Under the new law, the minimum wage will continue to rise to:
  • $10.50 per hour by July 2015.
  • $11.50 per hour by July 2016.
The base minimum wage for tipped restaurant employees remains at $2.77 per hour.
