Department for Business, Innovation & Skills

Also referred to as BIS. The UK government department became part of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in July 2016.
BIS was a combination of the Department for Business, Enterprise, Regulation and Reform (BERR) and the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS).
BERR brought together functions from the former Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), including responsibilities for enterprise, business relations, regional development, fair markets and energy policy, with the Better Regulation Executive (BRE), previously part of the Cabinet Office.
