Comity

The legal doctrine under which courts recognize and enforce each others' legal decisions as a matter of courtesy, or based on the need for reciprocity, but not necessarily as a matter of law. Courts observing comity usually defer considering a case if the same issues are being considered in a court in another jurisdiction.
