Also known as a UCC-1 and an initial financing statement. A financing statement is defined as a record or records composed of an initial financing statement and any filed record relating to the initial financing statement (UCC § 9-102(a)(39)). In accordance with the UCC, a lender's security interest in most types of collateral is perfected by filing a financing statement (UCC § 9-310).
