The retroactive cancellation or discontinuance of health insurance coverage. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), coverage rescissions are prohibited for plan years beginning on or after September 23, 2010, except in cases of fraud or intentional misrepresentation of material fact. The ACA rules also include an advance notice requirement.
