Revised contaminated land statutory guidance for England comes into force

Revised statutory guidance on the contaminated land regime and the radioactive contaminated land regime under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 was published in April 2012 by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) (respectively). Both guidance documents came into force on 6 April 2012.

In April 2012, revised statutory guidance on the non-radioactive contaminated land regime and the radioactive contaminated land regime was published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) (respectively). Both guidance documents came into force on 6 April 2012 and relate only to England. The equivalent guidance for Wales has not yet been published.
In April 2012, revised statutory guidance on the non-radioactive contaminated land regime under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA 1990) was published by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). The Environment Agency has confirmed that the guidance came into force on 6 April 2012.
The revised statutory guidance on the radioactive contaminated land regime under Part 2A of the EPA 1990 was published by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC). This guidance came into force on 6 April 2012.
Both guidance documents relate only to contaminated land in England. Revised guidance in relation to the contaminated land regime in Wales has been laid before the National Assembly for Wales (NAW) but it has not yet been published in final form.
