On 11 April 2012, the Scottish Arbitration Centre (SAC) and the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at the University of Dundee (CEPMLP) announced that they will be working together on an energy arbitration project, with a view to developing Scotland as an international centre for energy arbitration.
Pursuant to the venture, CEPMLP's expertise in international energy law will be brought to bear on energy disputes with a view to promoting their speedy and efficient resolution. The revival of interest in North Sea oil and gas, and the developing renewable energy industry, are likely to give rise to complex disputes in the future. The SAC will work with the CEPMLP to provide opportunities for efficient dispute resolution.
