On May 16, 2012, the US Copyright Office annouced that it is discontinuing the use of Form CO, the Application for Copyright Registration.
The US Copyright Office has announced on its website that it is discontinuing Form CO - Application for Copyright Registration. Form CO is currently used to register a:
  • Literary work.
  • Visual arts work.
  • Performing arts work.
  • Motion picture or other audiovisual work.
  • Sound recording.
  • Single serial issue.
This form will continue to be available until June 20, 2012. The Copyright Office will accept completed Form COs received by July 2, 2012. Copyright applicants who submit Form CO after July 2, 2012 will be required to send an additional form and fee. This could result in a delay in establishing an effective date of registration and processing the copyright application.
