New order made restricting circumstances in which local authorities may authorise directed surveillance under RIPA | Practical Law

The Regulation of Investigatory Powers (Directed Surveillance and Covert Human Intelligence Sources) (Amendment) Order 2012 (SI 2012/1500), which was made on 15 June 2012 and will come into force on 1 November 2012, restricts the circumstances in which local authorities may authorise directed surveillance under the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.
