On 19 June 2012, the Upper Tribunal (Administrative Appeals Chamber) in UK Coal v Information Commissioner and others [2012] UKUT 212 (AAC) rejected an appeal that the First-tier Tribunal's interpretation and application of section 43 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 failed to protect UK Coal's commercial interests.
