The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) was established in 1985 and is one of the world's leading dispute resolution organisations based in Hong Kong, with an oversees office in Seoul. HKIAC consists of the Council (which governs HKIAC and is composed of leading business people and professionals from all around the world), the Executive Committee (the principal body directing the activities of HKIAC), the International Advisory Board (which provides guidance and advice on a policy level) and the Secretariat, led by the Secretary-General (which manages day-to-day administration of cases).
This Toolkit offers a selection of Practical Law Arbitration resources designed to give arbitration practitioners an understanding of several important aspects of arbitration at the HKIAC, including:
  • Drafting an arbitration agreement providing for HKIAC arbitration.
  • Conducting an arbitration under the HKIAC Rules, including:
    • appointing an arbitrator.
    • procedure.
    • the award.
    • modifications to the award and enforcement.
The Toolkit also contains a useful list of links to HKIAC resources.
