A Practice Note addressing patient-centered outcomes research (PCOR) fees under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which plan sponsors of applicable self-insured health plans and insurers of certain health insurance policies must pay to finance research regarding the clinical effectiveness of medical treatments. Under federal spending legislation enacted in December 2019, the PCOR program was extended for an additional ten years (through 2029).
