Countdown to the AIFM Directive – Level 2 Regulation | Practical Law

On 19 December 2012, the European Commission published its long-awaited "Level 2" implementing measures for the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (2011/61/EU) (AIFM Directive or AIFMD), considerably later than first expected. These measures take the legal form of a Regulation (Regulation 231/2013) and so will be directly applicable in member states, leaving member states with no discretion as to how they are implemented.
