Holland & Hart: New Nevada Law Restricts Use of Credit Checks for Employment Purposes | Practical Law

This Law Firm Publication by Holland & Hart LLP discusses Nevada's newly enacted Senate Bill 127 that will, with certain exceptions, prohibit Nevada employers from retaliating against an employee based on the results of a credit report or for refusing or failing to provide a credit report. Senate Bill 127, which becomes effective October 1, 2013, also prohibits employers from requesting or requiring any current employee or applicant to submit a consumer credit report as a condition of employment. In enacting this new law, Nevada became the tenth state to restrict the use of credit reports for employment purposes.
