This Law Firm Publication by Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., discusses information recently released by the Illinois State Police about the approved concealed carry signage authorized by the Firearm Concealed Carry Act (PA 098-0063). Under the Act, which was passed July 9, employers that wish to prohibit licensed individuals from carrying concealed firearms onto their private property must clearly and conspicuously post an approved four inch by six inch sign with a white background and no text, just a reference to the applicable statute (430 ILCS 66/65) and a four inch diameter "no firearms" symbol. Employers can download a template approved sign from the Illinois State Police Concealed Carry Information website.
