The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) has published the most recent update to its Manual of Patent Practice, effective from 1 July 2014. The majority of the changes relate to case law, in particular the decision of the Supreme Court in HGS v Lilly (see Legal update, Supreme Court overrules Court of Appeal on validity of Neutrokine patent (full update)), the decision of the High Court in Shanks v Unilever (see Legal update, High Court gives guidance on Patents Act employee compensation provisions) and the IPEC decision in Brundle v Perry (see Legal update, IP Enterprise Court considers scope of terms "suitable for" and "adapted to" in threats case).
