Jackson Lewis: Trenton, New Jersey and Oakland, California Approve Paid Sick Leave Laws | Practical Law
In this Law Firm Publication, Jackson Lewis P.C. discusses the paid sick leave (PSL) laws recently approved by voters in several jurisdictions. On November 4, 2014, voters in Trenton and Montclair, New Jersey approved PSL laws by significant margins (85% and 75% respectively). Trenton and Montclair are the seventh and eighth municipalities in New Jersey to enact PSL laws. Oakland, California became the fourth California city to approve a PSL law in a measure that was approved by 81% of its voters. Finally, Massachusetts joined California and Connecticut as the only states to enact a PSL law. PSL laws have now been enacted in 19 jurisdictions in less than two years.
