The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has released a revised version of the Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure for January 2015 incorporating rule changes that the USPTO has adopted in recent months.
On January 17, 2015, the USPTO issued the January 2015 version of the Trademark Manual of Examining Procedure (TMEP). The TMEP is published to provide guidance on the current law, practices and procedures concerning trademark application prosecution to register trademarks with the USPTO. The TMEP is intended to assist both trademark examiners and trademark applicants and their attorneys and representatives.
The January 2015 TMEP incorporates the following rule changes adopted by the USPTO since the October 2014 version of the manual was released:
