House Bill 1, known as "Haleigh's Hope Act," legalizes the use of low-potency cannabis oil for patients suffering from various diseases, including cancer and Parkinson's. The law does not require employers to accommodate medical marijuana users or to permit the use of marijuana in the workplace. Employers in Georgia may continue to maintain a zero-tolerance drug use policy applicable to marijuana. The law takes effect immediately but requires certain administrative regulations be promulgated by the state Department of Health.
