Jackson Lewis: Connecticut's Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities Changes Process for Discrimination Complaints | Practical Law

This Law Firm Publication by Jackson Lewis P.C. discusses that the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) will implement certain changes to its procedures for processing discrimination complaints, under Public Acts 15-249 and 15-5, to achieve greater efficiency. Employers can now request Pre-Answer Conciliation within 10 days of receiving a complaint, "Merit Assessment Review" is now known as "Case Assessment Review," the timeframe within which the CHRO must conduct Case Assessment Review is shortened and the CHRO is now required to issue a Release of Jurisdiction automatically. Also, the CHRO representative who conducts mandatory mediation can no longer investigate the complaint as well. The changes take effect October 1, 2015.
