Statement of case

The document(s) in which a party sets out its case in civil litigation. Known as a 'pleading' before the introduction of the Civil Procedure Rules. A statement of case may be a claim form, particulars of claim, a defence, a counterclaim or other additional claim (formerly known as a Part 20 claim), a reply to a defence, and any further information provided in relation to these documents.
