Nassib Ziadé, a Lebanese and Chilean national, has been appointed chief counsel of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).

Ziadé, who has extensive experience in the administration of international legal proceedings, and in the management and development of international tribunals was due to take up his new position on 1 July 2007. He has been executive secretary of the World Bank Administrative Tribunal for the past ten years. In 1998 Ziadé was a member of the Grievance Process Review Committee, which reviewed and reformed the World Bank's Internal Conflict Resolution System, and has since been involved in all subsequent reviews of the system. He is also a former counsel at ICSID. He has commented that the chief counsel role has three elements - to develop policies and strategies for the performance of ICSID's mandate, to provide advice and leadership in alternative dispute resolution, and to lead and manage the ICSID Secretariat.
