On 9 May 2008, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced it had issued an administrative complaint seeking to block Inova Health System Foundation´s (Inova) purchase of Prince William Health System (PWHS), alleging that the combination of the two hospital systems would violate federal antitrust laws.
