Internal dispute resolution procedure (IDRP)

The procedure used to resolve disputes between actual and potential pension scheme beneficiaries (or persons claiming to be actual or potential beneficiaries) and the scheme. The trustees of occupational pension schemes must have an IDRP, unless the scheme is exempt. This requirement was introduced with effect from 6 April 1997 by section 50 of the Pensions Act 1995.
