On March 28, 2012, the Copyright Office announced a proposed new fee schedule for registering claims, recording documents, special services, Licensing Division services and Freedom of Information Act requests.
The Copyright Office has announced a proposed new fee schedule for:
  • Registering claims.
  • Recording documents.
  • Special services, such as expedited handling.
  • Licensing Division services.
  • Freedom of Information Act requests.
Details of the proposal, including a schedule of the current and proposed fees, were published in a notice of proposed rulemaking in the Federal Register. Public comment on the proposal must be received by May 14, 2012. The Copyright Office strongly urges the public to submit comments electronically through its website. The Copyright Office anticipates implementing the new fee schedule on October 1, 2012.
