New York State Deparment of State launched a system to allow electronic filing of biennial statements.
On May 1, 2012, the New York State Department of State (Department) launched a system that allows most business corporations and limited liability companies to electronically file their biennial statements. All New York corporations must file a biennial statement every two years with the Department during the calendar month in which the original certificate of incorporation was filed.
The electronic filing system reflects the Department's efforts to improve customer service and reduce the costs to the state. It is the first step towards overhauling New York's corporate filing system; according to the Secretary of State, businesses will soon be able to electronically file incorporation documents as well.
For more on the launch, see the Department's press release.
