Design-Bid-Build (DBB)

The traditional and most widely used method to structure the planning, management and construction of both privately-owned and public infrastructure projects in the US. In a DBB structure, the owner contracts separately with one or more:
  • Design professionals for the planning and design of the project.
  • Prime contractors to perform the construction.
The phases are customarily performed sequentially and the design is completed prior to being sent out for bid by the contractor or contractors that will be selected to perform the construction.
