Second Circuit

Southern District of New York

Judge Ronnie Abrams updated her Case Management Plan and Scheduling Order.

Third Circuit

District of New Jersey

The US District Court for the District of New Jersey released a new Civil Cover Sheet.

Eighth Circuit

Western District of Arkansas

The US District Court for the Western District of Arkansas issued General Order No. 42 In re: Plan for Direct Assignment of Social Security Appeal Cases to a United States Magistrate Judge on January 17, 2013.

Ninth Circuit

Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals

The US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit added FAQs for its new procedures to request initial extensions of time to file briefs and for its electronic submission of excerpts policy.
The Ninth Circuit also updated several attorney guides on its website.

Central District of California

The US District Court for the Central District of California posted an updated version of the following form: Notice of Application to the Clerk to Tax Costs and Proposed Bill of Costs.
Recently appointed Judge Jesus G. Bernal posted his procedures and schedules, including a requirement that mandatory chambers copies of all e-filed documents be delivered to the courtesy box outside his courtroom.

Northern District of California

The US District Court for the Northern District of California released a new Civil Cover Sheet.
Judge Susan Illston updated her Standing Order. Judge Illston no longer accepts ex parte motions seeking to file documents under seal. Judge Illston still accepts stipulations with proposed orders in lieu of the administrative motion to seal.

Eastern District of Washington

The US District Court for the Eastern District of Washington adopted amendments to Local Rule 7.1 on Motion Practice effective February 1, 2013. The court provided a summary of amendments to the local rules. The new rule:
  • Requires a single filing that encompasses what used to be three separate filings (the motion, memorandum and notice of hearing).
  • Allows motions to be supported by affidavits and declarations where appropriate.
  • Establishes deadlines for filing opposition papers and replies irrespective of the method of service.
  • Explains how to calculate page limits.
  • Alters the policy regarding citing to unpublished decisions.
  • Allows parties to seek an expedited hearing with a single filing.
  • Clarifies the procedures for setting a motion for hearing.

Tenth Circuit

District of Colorado

The US District Court for the District of Colorado amended its schedule of fees, effective May 1, 2013. The schedule of fees will include a $50 administrative fee for filing a civil action, suit, or proceeding in a district court.

District of New Mexico

Northern District of Oklahoma

The US District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma released a new Civil Cover Sheet.

District of Wyoming

The US District Court for the District of Wyoming posted the e-mail addresses that should be used for submitting proposed orders that do not require the filing of a motion:

Southern District of Florida
