This Law Firm Publication by Stoel Rives LLP discusses House Bill 2950, signed last week, which expands the Oregon Family Leave Act (OFLA) to include bereavement leave. Effective January 1, 2014, eligible employees may take up to two weeks of leave to attend a family's member's funeral or related services, make their funeral or related arrangements, or grieve their death. The law incorporates the OFLA's existing definition of family member, which includes a spouse, same sex domestic partner, parent, parent-in-law, parent of the employee's same sex domestic partner, grandparent, grandchild, child, stepchild or child of the employee's same sex domestic partner.
