The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) launched a new mobile app for iPhone and Android users, which provides employers, employees and unions with information regarding their rights and responsibilities under the National Labor Relations Act.
On August 30, 2013, the NLRB announced the release of a new mobile application for iPhone and Android users. The free app:
  • Provides employers, employees and unions with information regarding their rights and responsibilities under the NLRA.
  • Describes the rights enforced by the NLRB.
  • Offers contact information for NLRB regional offices across the country.
  • Details the process the NLRB uses in elections held to determine whether employees wish to be collectively represented.
The app, originally intended to supplement the NLRB's planned Notice of Rights Poster, will function as an alternative to the poster after the two US Courts of Appeals invalidated the NLRB's poster rulemaking (see Article, Post No Bills: Insights from the DC Circuit's Ruling on the NLRB's Notice Posting Rule). The NLRB's press release omits the right of employees to refrain from engaging in concerted activities from its list of the NLRA rights about which the mobile app will instruct the public.
