DOL, OSHA and NLRB Agree With Mexican Consulates and Philippines Embassy to Promote Workers' Rights | Practical Law

The Department of Labor (DOL) reports that the DOL's Wage and Hour Division (WHD), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) met with representatives from Mexican Consulates in Arizona to renew workplace protection agreements. The DOL has also reported that its WHD has entered into an agreement with the Embassy of the Philippines to increase access to education about workers’ rights under certain US laws.

The Department of Labor (DOL) reports that the DOL's Wage and Hour Division (WHD), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) met with representatives from Mexican Consulates in Arizona to renew workplace protection agreements. The DOL has also reported that its WHD has entered into an agreement with the Embassy of the Philippines to increase access to education about workers’ rights under certain US laws.
The DOL reported in its May 29, 2014 newsletter that its Wage and Hour Division (WHD) and OSHA met on May 27 with representatives from Mexican Consulates in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, Nogales and Douglas, Arizona, to renew workplace protection agreements. The Mexican Consulate in Phoenix signed a similar agreement with the NLRB.
The DOL also reported in its June 5, 2014 newsletter that the WHD has entered into an agreement with the Embassy of the Philippines to increase access to education about workers' rights under US laws including:
  • The FLSA.
  • The Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act.
  • The Immigration and Nationality Act.
A signing ceremony was held on May 30 in Birmingham, Alabama. The Philippine-American Association of Alabama, the International Society of Huntsville and the International Services Council of Alabama were also in attendance.
