Mandatory Mediation, Higher Monetary Thresholds and Other Changes in the New York Commercial Division | Practical Law

The New York State Supreme Court Commercial Division has made some significant changes to its rules. Effective July 28, 2014, every fifth commercial division case in New York County will be assigned to mandatory mediation. On September 2, 2014, the monetary thresholds for assignment to the commercial division in several counties will be doubled, a new rule concerning the categorical designation of documents in privilege logs will go into effect and parties will be able to request assignment to the commercial division earlier in a case.
