Council's policy for calculating amount of financial assistance under section 17 of the Children Act 1989 lawful (High Court) | Practical Law

On 28 October 2014, the High Court held in Mensah v Salford City Council [2014] EWHC 3537 (Admin) that the council's policy in determining the level of financial support paid to children in need under section 17 of the Children Act 1989 and their non-British parents who were destitute by reference to the level of financial support that was paid to failed asylum seekers was lawful.
