This note considers the initial steps that the EAT will take once it has accepted a Notice of Appeal. These include the sift procedure and allocating the appeal to either a hearing under rule 3(10) of the EAT Rules, a preliminary hearing, or a full hearing. This note considers the features of an appeal that will determine how it is allocated, and who will be served with the Notice of Appeal once it has been registered.
