Credit Rating Agency

Also known as rating agency. A credit rating agency attempts to describe the risk of a bond with a credit rating such as AAA. In the US, some of the major agencies are Standard and Poor's, Moody's Investors Service and Fitch Ratings. Bonds in other countries may be rated by US rating agencies or by local credit rating agencies.
