A note covering local authority duties under the Children Act 1989 in relation to looked after children and unaccompanied children seeking asylum.  The note also deals with the inter-relationship between a local authority's duty under the Children Act 1989 and its duty under the Housing Act 1996 to secure accommodation for a homeless applicant.
