A sample California Family Rights Act (CFRA) policy that also includes pregnancy disability leave (PDL) provisions for private employers with five or more employees in compliance with the CFRA, as significantly amended effective January 1, 2021. It includes employee eligibility under the CFRA, qualifying reasons, notice requirements, and other important provisions. This Standard Document is based in part on the prototype dated January 2023 from the California Civil Rights Department (formerly the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH)). This policy has been drafted in compliance with California law. This Standard Document has integrated notes with important explanations and drafting tips.
