EMI individual limit

The limit on the market value (as at the respective dates of grant of the relevant options and ignoring certain restrictions) of shares that may be acquired by an employee in respect of employment with a company or group of companies:
  • Under all EMI options held at any time that remain capable of exercise.
  • Under all EMI options held at any time plus those granted within the preceding three years to the extent that they have been exercised or have lapsed.
The current limit is £250,000.
From 6 April 2008 to 15 June 2012, the limit was £120,000.
From 28 July 2000 (the date the EMI legislation was first enacted in Finance Act 2000) to 5 April 2008, the limit was £100,000.
