Amendments to Singapore's arbitration laws have entered into force.
In 2011, the Singapore Ministry of Law published draft bills proposing amendments to Singapore's International Arbitration Act (IAA) and a Proposed Enactment of the Foreign Limitation Periods Act (see Legal update, Proposed amendments to Singapore's International Arbitration Act and Article, Singapore: round-up 2011/2012). On 8 March 2012, the Government of Singapore introduced the Bills to Parliament, which were passed without amendment on 9 April 2012.
Both Acts were Gazetted on 1 June 2012 and entered into force on that date. For a summary of the legislative changes, see Legal update, Proposed changes to Singapore's arbitration laws.
