The USPTO will host a webinar on July 29, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. ET concerning its request for public comments on the America Invents Act (AIA) Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) trials, including the PTAB trial rules and trial practice guide. In its request for public comments, the USPTO posed specific questions concerning:
  • The claim construction standard.
  • Motions to amend.
  • Patent owner preliminary responses.
  • Obviousness.
  • Real parties in interest.
  • Additional discovery.
  • Multiple proceedings.
  • Extension of the one year period to issue a final determination.
  • Oral hearings.
